Be a Friend

Working directly with refugees requires a higher level of commitment.

We require that volunteers attend our WARM 101 and 201 trainings, fill out an application with background check, and agree to our vision and mission. We will then work with you to match you with a meaningful volunteer opportunity.

We want to make sure you are equipped and feel supported.

We will need many Befriend-A-Family teams to help meet the needs of Afghans!

There are many ways you can be a friend and mentor to refugees...

  • Enjoy a cup of tea together

  • Navigate the grocery store

  • Help with menu options on the phone

  • Try their delicious cooking

  • Practice English

  • Offer a ride to an appointment

  • Explain how to fill out a form

  • Give driving lessons

  • Be an advocate

  • Help with homework
